Meet One Of The Faces Behind Bert Vis Flooring Inc.

I’m Ralph Vis, the proud co-owner of Bert Vis Flooring Inc., along with my wife, Jane.

I look forward to sharing our story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know us better.

My grandfather, Roelof, ran a popular flooring store in the Netherlands. So, after my dad, Bert, immigrated to Canada, he decided to continue the family tradition by opening a flooring company in his garage in 1978.

He received support from my mother, Joan, and his brother Wolter. They built up a stellar reputation based on hard work and quality craftsmanship, leading to the enterprise growing from strength to strength.

I started to work for the business in high school and enthusiastically began to learn all the fine intricacies of the profession. Once I completed my education, I came on board full time and took on more responsibility.

Eventually, in 2017, my wife Jane and I became the official owners after my dad retired. We were inspired to maintain the core values already ingrained in the company.

However, we have slowly transitioned from just specializing in furniture upholstery and flooring to offering Para paint and Quartz countertops. These items are displayed in our spacious storefront in Smithville.

At our store, we employ twenty-four knowledgeable staff that freely exchange ideas, leading to a high level of customer service. We also build trustful relationships with customers as there is nothing more gratifying than witnessing their happy smiles.

I also attribute our success to our Christian faith, which is deeply rooted in our philosophy. We follow the biblical values in Colossians 3:23 and do our work with all our hearts as though we’re working for the Lord and do it all in his glory.

My parents appreciate our desire to succeed with Christian love and dedication, and it’s essential for us to receive their blessing. I can fondly remember when we became owners and operated the business for a while; my dad and mom said, “we’re proud of you,” which was immensely satisfying.

When we’re not assisting customers, my wife and I focus on spending time with the family and the local church we attend. We also enjoy boating and pulling our children and their friends on the tubes and wakeboard.

I’ve enjoyed sharing our story about the things that matter to us and how they influence our business.
